Challenge: A Bus Trip with Grandpa
Help Grandpa find the bus times, save them and email them to a friend.
Planning the trip
Your grandpa wants to take the bus to the city museum on Saturday. His friend Linda wants to come too. He asks you to help him plan it on his laptop.
First, you need the bus schedule. The bus company's website is citybus.example. Grandpa wrote it on a card he picked up at the bus stop.
He opens Edge and clicks in the address bar at the top. He's not sure whether to type the address, or just type "bus" and see what comes up.
Think about what each choice does before you answer.

Linda calls. She searched "city bus schedule" instead.
Her first result said "Bus Tickets Half Price, Book Now". It had the word Sponsored next to it. Its address was bustix-deals.example.
Her second result said "City Bus Schedules". Its address was citybus.example, the same as Grandpa's card.
Save it for later
You're on the real bus site now. The address bar shows citybus.example. You find the Saturday times for Route 12.
Grandpa will want this page again next week. He doesn't want to search for it every time. You show him how to save it. Then it sits on the bar just under the address bar.
Send it to Linda
The bus site has a button that saves the schedule as a file. Grandpa clicks it. Now he wants to send the file to Linda.
He opens his email and clicks New mail. He types Linda's address in the To box, and "Saturday bus" as the Subject. Then he clicks the paper clip and picks the schedule file.
Can you answer these?
- Grandpa knows the exact address. What's the most direct way to reach the bus site?
- Which result should Linda click?
- What do you click at the right end of the address bar to save this page?
- What's the name for a file you add to an email with the paper clip?
